Will seat covers slow down leather seat deterioration?
My 3 year old car is starting to have some definite (moderate) wrinkling of the seat side bolster (left side) and very minimal stretching of the seat bottom leather (has 2 dimples, one for each buttocks half). The leather is not cracked.
It doesn’t bother me but I do not want a cracked seat where the foam is visable. I intend on keeping the car for 10-12 more years.
Solutions?
a. leather conditioner? Leatherique?
b. seat covers? Maybe sheepskin? Maybe a terry cloth (towel like material)?
c. both of the above
d. nothing is helpful
e. nothing on the seat is helpful but shading it from the sun, such as a windshield sunshade.

combination of a,b and e. There are different types of leather used in cars, depending on the manufacturer’s choice.
There are a very rare number of cars that use full grain leather becaus eit is thinck and tough. I think Ford uses it in their King Ranch edition trucks.
Most use split grain leather with a finish on the top grain.
Some use a bicast process where a thin layer of vinyl is bonded to the leather.
Seat cover will protect the leather from the sun and rub-type wear marks, but there is nothing you can do about the cheeky impressions.
Always keep it cleaned and conditioned.
